Ethics

We really appreciate the opportunity to work with the amazing, natural resource of wool. In doing so, we are committed to making sure any sheep who produce our wool are well cared for.

We also aim to make ethical choices over our products, production and packaging, with care for the environment.

We buy our yarn from an experienced company, in the UK who demonstrate that they share a strong commitment to ethical practices;

“We work with our mills to make sure that we purchase fibres where the best farming practices are used for our undyed yarns, and we aim to source our fibres from the ones that fit our own and our customers’ standards. Where our fibres are sourced from is very important for us; this is a constant work-in-progress because fibre sources are not fixed; sometimes some countries have fluctuations in yields or quality and so the fibres are sourced from the best place at the time... We prioritize our ethics above the cost of the fibre, and we will not compromise on this.”

These ‘ethical’ priorities are shown in sourcing and wool preparation:

Superwash

Superwash is a resin applied to wool to help prevent shrinkage.

I only use yarn from highly regulated treatment plants.

This treatment will biodegrade with the yarn in landfill.

Mulesing free

All of our yarn is mulesing free.

The merino is from South America, not Australia.

Further details about any yarn sourcing, from our suppliers, can be found here.

Allergies

Our family dog, Stella, is very much a part of our home, but does not come into contact with our yarn.

Before August 2021, our yarn was hand washed using dermatologically-tested, anti-bacterial hand-wash.

Since the beginning of August 2021, all our yarn is hand-washed with Eucalan Delicate wool-wash, with a beuatiful, delicate Jasmine scent:

Ingredients:

Eucalan Delicate Wash is non-toxic, biodegradable, free of optical brighteners, phosphates, synthetic fragrance and dye. Eucalan is pH neutral and is packaged in an easy to recycle, dye free HDPE plastic bottle. Available in 5 scents, Eucalan is scented with only quality essential oils, in addition to natural/unscented. The lanolin acts as a natural conditioner, keeping fibres supple and reducing static. Eucalan meets strict European regulations, it is "quickly" biodegradable.

Eucalan Ingredient List:

Essential Oil (where applicable) (Pure and natural jasmine oil)

Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate (Vegetable-based soap)

Ammonium Chloride (Is a salt of ammonia; used as a thickener)

Cocamide MEA (Mild foaming agent and thickener derived from plant source)

Purified Water

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (Thickener derived from plant source)

PEG 75 Lanolin (Naturally derived lanolin)

Methylchloroisothiazolinone (Preservative and antibacterial)
